Welcome to our brand new blog! Passionate for Preschool is a blog for parents, teachers, child care providers, or anyone who loves a young child!
My name is Shannon Coulombe and I work with children. Although I work with children of all ages, I have mostly worked with preschoolers. Preschoolers are awesome! I have been a teacher for more than 20 years, and I have experience teaching elementary school, grades 3 - 6, in addition to preschool. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Ed, focusing in early childhood education, way back in 1996.
I co-own Ready, Set, Grow Preschool in Beaumont, Alberta, where I also serve as the lead teacher. I have a business partner, Ms. Wendy Woods, who works alongside me each and every day at our preschool. Wendy is one of the founders of our preschool, which opened in the fall of 2007. Wendy is a very kind and loving teacher who truly enjoys making meaningful connections within our community. Our students love to spend time alongside their Ms. Woods!
We have a phenomenal educational assistant, Mrs. Ashley Quaale, who aides us in our classroom 3 days a week. Ashley has a soft and gentle approach with our preschoolers. She also loves to encourage their pursuit of making meaning from the environment in which they live. She loves to help them question, discover and create!
I will be the writer of this blog, but be rest assured that this is a team effort! The 3 of us work well together to create fun, engaging and meaningful programs for our students.
This is a space where we will share our thoughts about helping young children learn as they grow and develop through their preschool years. We have a lot to share and we hope you will enjoy reading Passionate for Preschool!
